Publication — Shâhnâmeh. Le Livre des Rois persans

Selected excerpts and preface by Negar Habibi

In Persian, the Shâhnâmeh means both “the Book of Kings” and “the King of Books”. This is the largest mythological epic ever written in the Persian language (60,000 couplets) by Ferdowsi, a tenth-century Persian poet born in the village of Badji in the Khorassan province of Iran.
The pieces selected and prefaced by Negar Habibi in the present collection offer a first synthetic approach to this founding work, which is considerable in terms of its volume and influence.
