L’art comme outil du soft power : dons des Etats de la région MENA aux organisations internationales

21 February 2025

EHESS, Paris, France and Zoom

Public lecture as part of the ARVIMM seminar, EHESS, Paris, 3–5 pm

Joan Grandjean, Silvia Naef

As part of the ARVIMM seminar, we are pleased to invite you to an exclusive session with Silvia Naef and Joan Grandjean. Together, they will explore a fascinating and under-studied aspect of international relations: the gifts of artworks from MENA states to international organizations.

These gifts, which include modern artworks, archaeological replicas, and objects of Islamic art, go far beyond simple cultural diplomacy. They represent a form of soft power, where art becomes a means for these countries to shape their image and influence on the international stage.
