Joan Grandjean presents at the one-day symposium Imaginaires connectés. Art, numérique et réseaux en Méditerranée contemporaine at the Institute for Advanced Study (IAS) of Aix Marseille Université
On May 22, 2026, a one-day symposium titled Imaginaires connectés. Art, numérique et réseaux en Méditerranée contemporaine will take place at the Institute for Advanced Study (IAS) of Aix Marseille Université, bringing together scholars, artists, and cultural practitioners to explore the evolving intersections between art and digital cultures across the Mediterranean region.
Organized by Prof. Dr. Jean-Paul Fourmentraux and Dr. Nourisson-Moncey, in partnership with the Centre Norbert Elias and Chroniques, the event examines how networked technologies are reshaping artistic production, circulation, and reception. At stake are not only new aesthetic forms, but also the emergence of critical imaginaries that engage with the social, political, and environmental challenges shaping the region today.
The morning session, dedicated to artistic practices, features presentations by Isabelle Arvers, Maïssane Alibrahimi, Mounir Ayache, and Joan Grandjean. Their contributions address topics ranging from video game cultures and feminist material practices to 3D aesthetics and speculative narratives in contemporary Arab art.
