Doctalks x Manazir collaboration: Art and Architecture in the MENA Region (1800–Present)

In collaboration with Doctalks, Manazir invites submissions for a Call for Papers featuring research on art and architecture in the MENA region from 1800 to the present.

2026

Manazir, Doctalks

For the academic year 2026-2027, in collaboration with DocTalks, Manazir invites submissions to present research on art and architecture in the MENA region from 1800 to the present. As the name Manazir implies, we welcome presentations that consider multiple perspectives on space and spatial production, from the built to the represented, the destroyed and the imagined.

We are particularly interested in transmedial research that engages with recurring themes of the region, including migration, memory, protest, climate, and identity, as well as tradition, craft, and the material practices that carry them.

The collaboration aims to create an online forum for peer-to-peer academic exchange among PhD students, postdoctoral researchers, and early-career scholars at all stages.

Please send your proposals to doctalks.contact@gmail.com by 4 September 2026. Don’t forget to indicate that you are applying for DocTalks x Manazir in the subject line of your email.
